How do I look after the print?

Treat it gently and it will last. Direct-to-garment ink sits in the cotton, and heat and friction are what wear it down, so wash it cold and inside out and keep the iron off it.

  • Machine wash cold, inside-out, gentle cycle with mild detergent and similar colours. Use non-chlorine bleach, only when necessary. No fabric softeners.
  • Tumble dry low, or hang-dry for longest life.
  • Cool iron inside-out if necessary. Do not iron the print.
  • Do not dry clean.

Some softening of the print over many washes is normal for any printed cotton tee, and part of how it wears in. Cracking or peeling after a few washes is not normal; if that happens, tell us.

What shirt are the designs printed on?

All of them go on the same shirt: the Gildan 5000 Heavy Cotton classic tee. It is 100% cotton, 5.0–5.3 oz/yd², pre-shrunk jersey, with a tubular body (no side seams), taped neck and shoulders, double-needle hems and a tear-away neck tag. The About page has it up close, with the full spec.

How does it fit?

A unisex regular fit with a standard length: straight through the body, standard shoulder, hem at the hip. It comes in S to 5XL. Measured flat, an M is 20″ wide and 29″ long, and an L is 22″ by 30″. Every size is in the size chart. For a closer women’s fit, most people go down one size.

Will it shrink?

The jersey is pre-shrunk, so it should keep its size. A little settling in the first wash is normal for any cotton tee; washing cold and tumble drying on low, or hanging it to dry, keeps it true.

Full chest or left chest?

Every design comes both ways. Full chest prints the word large across the front. Left chest prints it about 3½″ across, over the heart, the quieter way to wear it. Same shirt, same price.

How is it printed?

Direct-to-garment: the design is printed straight into the cotton, so it is soft to the touch rather than a thick layer on top. White on black goes down over a white base layer so it stays bright. Placement can vary by about half an inch from shirt to shirt; that is the nature of the process.

There’s a faint mark around the print on my new shirt.

Any slight discolouration or marking around a freshly printed design disappears after the first wash.

The collar stitching looks different from my last shirt.

Gildan is moving the collar from a double to a single topstitch, so for a while shirts may arrive with either. Same shirt, same fit; only the stitch line on the collar differs.

Why does my white shirt look slightly off-white?

Gildan’s white is a natural cotton white rather than an optically brightened one. Next to a bright-white shirt it can look very slightly warm. That is the cloth, not a fault.

When will my order ship?

Every shirt is printed when you order it, then shipped with tracking. Most US orders arrive in 7–9 business days from the day you order. Delivery cost and timing are quoted at checkout for your address. The detail is on Shipping & Returns.

Can I return or exchange?

Because each shirt is made for you, returns work a little differently from a shop with a warehouse. Everything is set out on Shipping & Returns.
